On September 25, 2025 Minister Lightbound announced that the government isaccepting the recommendations in the report issued by Industrial InquiryCommissioner William Kaplan on May 15, 2025. Minister Lightbound stated that: The government is repealing the 1994 moratorium on post-office closures in rural areas. Canada Post has been instructed to propose a plan that ensures service continues in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities despite the lifting of the moratorium. C
